Sustainability: Pre-Design and Design Phase

To incorporate sustainability into any project, Stellar strives to understand the client’s goals at the outset.

Pre-Design

In the pre-design phase, we assess sustainability goals and help our clients incorporate them into a cohesive vision. Whether seeking sustainability with, without or even beyond LEED criteria, Stellar works closely with clients to develop a real framework for achieving their objectives. Program information will include confirmation of any desired LEED-certification goals as well as a review of the credit scorecard point criteria.

Design

Once the programming of the building has been determined, our teams of highly trained design professionals bring the sustainability goals to reality in our building plans. This includes conceptual, schematic and detailed design of the project. Program information and sustainability criteria are finalized and incorporated into the project document at this time. Through every phase, Stellar works to find strategies to help reduce energy and water consumption, minimize the environmental footprint, and protect the health of occupants.
The owner’s commissioning agent should be selected by this time so he or she can participate in the analysis, selection and integration planning of MEP systems, especially if enhanced commissioning credits are required.
