Sustainability: Budgeting Phase
At Stellar, we recognize that without proper planning and communication, added costs can unintentionally find their way into a project. We seek to eliminate that possibility.
Because we work with clients of virtually every size, we turn a keen eye toward budgeting. We understand that clients have widely ranging needs and goals for their sustainability programs, and our long experience gives us the ability to propose solutions that fit within virtually any budget. We are also happy to present a range of alternatives, showing both the initial costs and projected long-term savings of a variety of sustainability features.
It’s important to understand that sustainability goals can be achieved with or without meeting the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED criteria. At Stellar, we can take either approach, and we can even design for criteria that exceed those of LEED.
As with every Stellar project, our integrated project staff will test the local market for cost history and current project value at pre-determined points in the design process. Including LEED certification or other sustainability measures makes this an even more important step.
Also, by engaging input from subcontractors, those trades develop an early understanding of the project scope. And by sharing knowledge and considering sustainable options, we achieve a clearer picture to effectively prepare preliminary and final budgets for our client.
