JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 21, 2010) – The Maintenance, Parts and Operations division of Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, hosted their annual “Ammonia Safety & Maintenance Workshop,” April 15 and 16, 2010. The two-day workshop, held at Stellar’s corporate office in Jacksonville, Fla., covered a variety of topics geared toward introducing new technology to more than 40 maintenance and plant personnel. Stellar invited product specialists from several nationally recognized vendors to speak at the workshop, including Rockwell Automation, Parker, GEA Group, Vilter Manufacturing, Hansen Technologies and Frick.

Upon arrival, participants attended a meet-and-greet luncheon, followed by an afternoon-long discussion of maintenance, automation, and automation sustainability and efficiency, hosted by Stellar’s director of automation, Tim Clark, and Rockwell. The second day of the workshop included seminars on compliance audits, high-pressure heat recovery for NH3 operations (presented by Vilter), and a seminar on ammonia/CO2 cascade systems, presented by Neil Horn, Stellar’s divisional vice president of refrigeration. In addition, Hansen presented a seminar on auto purger, and Frick presented on compressor analysis and optimization. The workshop concluded with a tour of Stellar’s Compressor Services Fabrication Shop and a “hands on” review of Mycom and Frick Screw Compressors.
