STELLAR EMPLOYEES TAKE AIM AT CYSTIC FIBROSIS WITH “SHOOT FOR A CURE

Jacksonville, Fla. (April 4, 2008) – Stellar, a leading design, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm, announces it raised $79,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the company’s 7th annual “Shoot for a Cure!” sporting clays tournament.

“Shoot For A Cure!” is an annual competition open to all skill levels. Participants shoot at a 90-target round of sporting clays. The event was held  is March 18th at W.W. Sporting Clays at 1445 Otis Road in Jacksonville.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was established in 1955 to assure the development of a means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those afflicted with the disease. When the Foundation began, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, the median age of survival for a person with CF is 36.8 years. Researchers are now working on correcting the basic defect that causes cystic fibrosis and believe development of these treatments can eventually put an end of the cascading effects of the disease.
